This is <em>Noem My Skollie's</em> competition at the Oscars

Cape Town – South Africa's true-life inspired gangster film, Noem My Skollie is one of the 85 foreign films submitted for the 89th Academy Awards.

Daryne Joshua’s first feature film will have to compete with a number of films that have already hit the festival circuit and have won big.

Cannes Film Festival winners like Canada's It's Only the End of the World which won the Grand Prix prize, The Salesman from Iran which won the best screenplay prize and star actor award, Ma' Rosa from the Philiippines, which took best actress award and Finland's, The Happiest Day in the Life that won the Un Certain Regard Award. 

Yemen is a first time contented with its entry I Am Nojoom, Age 10 and Divorced.
