SA's The Wound to compete with 91 other films for Oscar gold

Cape Town – A record 92 countries, including South Africa, have submitted films for consideration in the Oscar’s foreign language film category for the 90th Academy Awards.

The controversial gay Xhosa initiation film Inxeba (The Wound) starring Nakhane is South Africa’s entry in the category. (Read more here)

Haiti, Honduras, Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Senegal, Syria and South Africa’s neighbour Mozambique are first-time entrants.

The 90th Oscars will be held on Sunday, 4 March 2018, at the Dolby Theatre at the Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, and will be televised live in more than 225 countries and territories worldwide.
