David Beckham and Harry Styles will go head-to-head at this year’s British LGBT Awards – which may see appearances from Caitlyn Jenner and Sir Elton John.

The A-listers are among a host of names shortlisted for the coveted Straight Ally of the Year gong ahead of the annual bash which recognises those who work to advance the rights of LGBT communities.

Other nominees include James Corden, Dawn French, Anna Friel and Ariana Grande among others.

Strictly Judge Craig Revel-Horwood, BBC chat show host Graham Norton and editor-in-chief of British Vogue, Edward Enninful are all up for Broadcaster/Journalist of the Year, while Rita Ora, Frank Ocean and Dua Lipa will battle it out among others for the Music Artist of the Year accolade.

Stand out moments including Australia legalising same-sex marriage, Will and Grace making a comeback, Moonlight winning an Academy Award and Star Trek Discovery featuring a same-sex couple are all up for the Media Moment of the Year gong.

The prestigious Celebrity of the Year trophy features a shortlist of worthy names including Cara Delevingne, Demi Lovato, Rylan Clark-Neal, Matt Lucas and Susan Calman.

Colton Haynes, Laverne Cox, Paul O’Grady, Sarah Paulson and Sean Hayes are also in the running.

Comedian Alan Carr, who hosted the event last year, said: “It is a fantastic event that does so much to celebrate people in the LGBT community who are making a real difference, as well highlighting the straight allies who give their much-needed support.

“It is always a glitzy and fabulous affair with some very special moments.”

Awards organisers are also in talks with Ricky Martin about attending the ceremony to receive an International icon award, while Caitlyn Jenner and Sir Elton John are rumoured to be among the VIPs down to attend.

A source told Standard Online: “We’re in talks with some pretty big names about this year’s ceremony including Ricky Martin who is being lined up for an International icon award. Caitlyn Jenner may also return this year.

“There is also a possibility that Elton John might attend - the awards organisers are particularly keen on recognising him given he has just announced his last tour.”

The 2018 NatWest British LGBT Awards will take place at London’s Marriott Grosvenor Square on Friday, May 11.
