What would make a beautiful lady working in a corporate space quit her day job to venture into full-time acting?

Sitsofe Tsikor graduated from Central University in 2012 with Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. She landed her first job at Vodafone where she was Marketing Executive, and then moved to joined Safety Transport and Logistics Service (STLS) to manage the marketing wing of the company.

But just when things were going well with her career, Sitso made a crucial decision to resign and focus on her passion, acting. Revealing why she took that giant step, the bubbly actress she has no regrets.

“Acting is what I’m truly passionate about. It’s the one thing I see myself doing for the rest of my life,” she explained, adding that she has no interest of returning to the day jobs."

“I won’t return to the corporate world, but I plan on starting my own business.” The mission of her business, Sitso says, will have marketing and customer service as the core value and essence of what she wants to do.

Since quitting mainstream corporate work five years ago, the multi-faceted rising star has starred in a number of movies, TV series and has also modelled and done voice-overs for TV commercials.

She played roles in My Very Ghanaian Wedding, produced and directed by Helel Smith, and It Takes Two, directed by Pascal Amanfo. Sitso has also featured in series like Table of Men, Squatters, The Anthonios, and is currently starring in TV3 drama series production, Sadia.

Holding a First Degree in Marketing, Sitso believes that the decisions she had to make in her life are what have brought her this far.

According to Sitso, she her focus on education has always been her priority in order to have something to fall back on when the need ever arose, adding that she is also focused on her passion as she is against doing things half-heartedly.

Although Sitso has also made some bad decisions in her life, she has no regrets because she always learns from her mistakes, which have shaped her to be a better person.

In 2017, Sitso took a course in acting for camera at City University in Johannesburg, South Africa, where she got cast for an upcoming South African film titled The Johannesburg.

Back home, she sees a bright future for the Ghana movie industry if things are done right. “I think we need to have structure and order, and a system that favours every player in the industry.”

According to her, there is little difference between the Ghanaian and Nigerian movie industries. However, Nigeria’s population exceeds that of Ghana, and they generally work extra hard at what they do. To beat them in movies, Ghanaians need to go the extra mile to produce great movies.

“Natural talent in acting and professional skill plus learning on every single job are crucial to making one a formidable force in the movie industry,” she advises.

Sitso says starring in TV3’s hit-series, Sadia, has given her the pleasure to be on set with some fantastic actors in the movie industry. In Sadia, Sitso plays Eva, a member of the Gibson camp and former personal assistant to Don Gibson.

On how she landed her role in what is arguably the most-watched Ghanaian series now, Sitso gives credit to her hard work. “I’d worked with the producer on a previous project which was successful, so when he was casting for Sadia, he contacted me, I was cast and the rest is history.”

Sitso is also making waves in Nigeria, having starred in the series Squatters, which airs on Wazobia Max TV in Nigeria.

Sitso has great admiration for Academy Award winners, Meryl Streep and Denzel Washington. “Over the years, I have followed with keen interest and have read generally anything concerning their journey, watched and observed anything and everything they have done,” she revealed.
