Actor George Clooney suffered minor injuries after being involved in a collision while riding a motorized scooter in Sardinia, Italy, on Tuesday morning, local authorities said.

The 57-year-old Academy Award winner was traveling on a state road toward Olbia from Puntaldia when the crash occurred, Carabinieri officer Lt. Col. Alberto Cicognani told The Washington Post in an email.

The incident happened around 8:15 a.m. local time when a Mercedes-Benz failed to obey the right of way and collided with Clooney at an intersection, Cicognani said.

“George Clooney fell and slammed the windshield of the Mercedes,” he said, adding that the driver did phone for help.

Municipal police, an ambulance and the fire department arrived on the scene, but Clooney’s injuries were not serious, Cicognani said. The actor was transported to a nearby hospital, NBC News reported.

According to La Nuova Sardegna, a local news site, Clooney only suffered a knee injury.

Cicognani reported that Clooney has already been discharged and noted that the actor “stays well.”

The actor is currently on the island filming a new TV series “Catch-22,” based on the 1961 book of the same name written by Joseph Heller.
